It’s been a long time coming but a post is here!

I’ve been extremely lax in posting as of late, lots happening both personal and work releated .. kind of .. I guess.

But I’m trying to sort all that out, feeling a bit of a rush of excitement and inspiration and i’m starting to find my feet in life again and it feels good.

My x-box died, epic fail, so thankfully I have managed to afford to sort myself out with a new one and it arrived this morning with a spangly copy of Mass Effect 2 in tow! I really am looking forward to sinking my teeth into it and i’m pretty glad I dont have to worry about copying it to my HDD due to having a shit disc drive. The curses of a 4 year old console I support.

I’m especially slacking on the Blender side of things, lack of inspiration and TF2 being the main problem, I totted up that I have put around 140 hours into that game in around 2 years, it doesnt sound like a lot but it looks like a lot and certainly feels like time I could have spent better elsewhere. But then if i’m enjoying myself then why not ?

Still loving my iPhone, the versatility of it an pure ease of use make using it a dream, i’m constantly worried about it running out of battery of the battery just falling over but damn im getting some awesome use out of it. I’ve never been on facebook so much!

So, about 5 hours into Brutal Legend I find myself with mixed feelings about the game.

The presentation, the acting and the style is absolutely amazing. I cannot press how much a joy the game is to look at, listen to and just generally explore. BUT, and this is a big hooty booty sized but, the gameplay …. the weird and wonky RTS and the generally unsatisfying combat just puts a real dampener on the game.

This I think stops the game from being amazing, its just not particularly fun or well implemented and almost feels unnecessary. Could they not have been all AI controlled and this be more of a dynasty warriors kind of affair ?

Honestly my last real experience with an RTS on a console was with Kingdom under fire on the original Xbox and that did it without issue, but then its a much slower affair. With Brutal Legend you are expected to run around and deal with the long range attacks, that you don’t even know are hitting you until you are low on energy and the screen begins to glow red, while trying to get some decent response from your legions of dudes.

I’m sure plenty of people will play it and have no issues with this at all but it just feels a bit sloppy, which is a real shame considering how lovingly the rest of the game is put together!

Hopefully should have some more thoughts over the next few days..

P.S Don’t go into multiplayer before you finish single player, Major Spoiler alert

So I caved, after months of saying I would probably never get into another MMO someone went and dangled a carrot infront of my nose and teased me with Champions Online . I ate that shit up like a kid in a candy store.

To be honest I think the biggest lure for me was the idea of being able to use my 360 controller oh and also there is this video :

I’m gonna be honest here and say I have never heard any of those songs, while I know of Judas Priest my actual knowledge of their songs are quite slim. Oh well, it will give me some chance to catch up with the Iron Maiden tracks I am still yet to purchase.
