Drawing is something I have always done, since I was a child I have always doodled. Be it in my schoolbook or in the margin of my notebook at work and I always seem happier with those quick drawn Biro efforts than with my more planned efforts.

I recently picked myself up a sketch pad and some graphite pencils, these fit perfectly in my “man-bag” and I can carry them everywhere with me, and I do! Probably much to the dismay of my lovely girlfriend, I have began drawing at odd times. During the day I might take out my sketch pad and draw something then put it away, I’m finding the cheapo graphite pencils I bought excellent for quick sketches and a pleasure to draw with on the “artsy” style paper that’s in the sketch book.

I was in bed one night and had the urge to draw, it may well have been 1am in the morning on a school night but what the hell, I was up watching live at the Apollo anyway.

Something must have tweaked that night as I actually drew something, created a character I was happy with! I liked the design and to make it better I can actually replicate it!

And low and behold my character was created! I am pretty happy with how he has turned out, I have also finally got the hang of drawing trousers. This might sound like a really stupid stumbling box but for some reason could never ever get the crotch right!

My next step is to try and colour it correctly, for some reason whenever I try to ink my drawings I really hate my quality of line. Practice makes prefect I guess!
