Brütal Legend

brutal-legend

hey look, I used an umlaut!

I managed to snag a early access demo code for Brütal Legend from the oh-so friendly Game staff at the weekend while trading in a fuck tonne of useless PS2 swag.

The game, for those who are not aware, follows the story of Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black), who is a the best roadie in the world but unfortunately is gigging in the wrong era. He can fix anything and build any stage, he is unfortunately killed during a stage accident but his body is taken to what I assume is metal heaven.

A fairly wild storyline that comes with amazing heritage I had my fingers crossed for a decent taster and thankfully I was not let down.

The game screams quality and I advise anyone to give it a chance, from the animation, characterisation controls and Blacks voice work it’s all of very high caliber. I personally can’t wait to try the full version come “Rocktober”

Rinse and repeat

rinse-and-repeat

I suppose its about time to disrupt the cobwebs and post something.

Severe lack of motivation at the moment, no ideas, no want to do anything, everything feels disappointing and nothing is exciting. Hopefully life will pick up soon, its just so … boring.

I think this is probably what writers block feels like, I seriously can’t think of anything worth while to put down.

I got scribblenauts which, while excellent in its conception, is proving to be a bit of a mixed bag. I love the concept and I love the way its presented but the lack of accuracy in the mechanics causes the game to be incredibly frustrating at times. Trying to use ropes and cables and chains to create elaborate devices should be much more accessible. Unfortunately due to some wonky physics and strange implementation it becomes frustrated and you are forced to go down the easy route because the inventive route doesn’t work as intended!

That being said, it is good fun, it really shines when the levels are simple and you can really use your imagination to mess around. It would certainly shine as a sandbox and would be stellar on a next gen system or on the Wii with DS integration (if they think I am gonna write with the Wii-mote they can fuck off).

Oh and I got my hat, which was awesome :)

My poor little Hedgehog Lola unfortunately passed away :( way under age and she was ill. I completely blame myself for not taking her to the vet when I should have and its actually shaken me up a lot more than I ever thought it would. Is there a way to apologise to an animal ? I wish there was some way….

R.I.P Lola-Chog 2006 – 2009

I’ve decided I’m gonna close the shop, again lack of time and inspiration and one of those things it felt like a good idea but in practice its a bit pointless. I’m going to wang it all in a car boot and put the money into my savings where it is probably better used.

Obligatory Rockband post tomorrow, same bat time same bat channel.
